Knowledge/Skills

Singing

  • Encourage singing simple rounds and canon.

Instrumental

  • Play beat and rhythms on classroom instruments.

Knowlegde/Skills

Singing

  • Perform 2 part rounds.
  • Use ostinato accompaniment when singing.
  • Experience folk song music from different countries.
  • Focus on expressive elements when performing(phrasing, nuances, delivery, dynamics).
  • Sing partner songs in two parts
  • Start to develop a good sense of ensemble singing.

Instrumental

  • Perform pentatonic melodies (using 5 notes only) on the recorder and xylophone
  • Play ostinatos on classroom instruments.
  • Use body percussion together with recorded music or own songs.
  • Develop control and care with ensemble playing.
  • Continue to develop the skills needed to play the recorder
  • Experience varying time signatures when playing.

Listening and Appreciation

  • Use movement to develop an understanding of form and expression in music (flow, space, smooth, heavy, light).
  • Continue to describe music elements using appropriate musical vocabulary.
  • Move and respond to music with teacher signals related to direction, tempo, etc.
  • Develop an awareness and appreciation of music from different sources and cultures.

Instrumental

  • Organise rhythmic and tonal patterns from a given pattern.
